Chicago Photo Essay
In the past 15 years or so, Vietnamese-Americans have created
an impressive and dynamic institutional and commercial district in
the Argyle neighborhood on the North Side of Chicago.
Vietnamese entrepreneurs have helped revitalize long moribund
commercial streets in the surrounding area. The photos in this
essay were taken on a dark snowy day in December 2000. This
fact is somewhat reflected in the quality and resonance of the
pictures.
