According to the 2000 census, about 25,000 Vietnamese reside
in the Philadelphia area. Vietnamese institutions are scattered
around several Philadelphia area communities such as
Tasker-Morris, South 8th Street, Kensington and NE Philadelphia.
Several of these neighborhoods are featured in the photos below.
Most of the photos were taken in the late 1990s. Vietnamese
residents of the city have been suburbanizing in the past several
years and moving out of some of the central city locations pictured.
